Yesterday Roscoe had another first: his first taste of real food! Developmentally he's ready for consuming real food. The denser calories may also help him to grow more quickly. He was at 8lb 9oz and eating healthy portions of milk, but he's still spending lots of energy on his breathing so he's not growing quite as quickly as the doctors want.
Steve and Colleen were visiting Roscoe, so Steve got roped into holding him while Alisha recorded the video. The person feeding him is a developmental specialist who wanted to do the feeding to make sure he didn't choke and was handling it normally. Here's a video after his first few bites. I think overall he ate about a teaspoon:
Thanks to Andrew and Brooke for the spoons, they are starting to get some use!
So cute!
ReplyDeleteAwww - that video was cute. Glad we got to "be there" for a big first.
ReplyDeleteWas that carrots?
Yeah, I think it was carrots. This morning I saw more boxes of the food by the bedside and that was carrots too. I like how he pauses with a confused look on his face after each bite.
DeleteIt was funny because it seemed like he wasn't sure about it, but then it seemed like he almost got mad when he wasn't getting any more. Haha.
DeleteIt's good to see him eating so well.
