The Lord Provides

Roscoe had another great day, roughly the same as the past few days that have been filled with smiles and stability. We didn't speak with the surgeon yet, because he's having a fairly busy week. Last night the nurses got called left and right to prep for patients coming back from surgery. We heard from the nurses that we'll get to speak with Dr. Fineman (pulmonary hypertension) tomorrow morning, and then hopefully Dr. Cohen (the surgeon) later in the day. The nurses said that surgery is still scheduled for Monday, which is hopefully good because the surgeon won't be tired on a Friday afternoon from a week of surgeries.

Alisha and I were talking last night about how blessed we are, given the current situation. Our housing is provided for free, we have no fee for parking, we get food for free both at the hospital and here in the Ronald McDonald house, Roscoe's health care is completely paid for (aside from the small deductible), and I am able to take off 2 months of work using California Paid Family Leave. Alisha pointed out that the only way to spend less money living in San Francisco for a month would be to be homeless. How else could you live in a safe area within the city limits of San Francisco, while hardly paying anything for life's provisions? It makes me think of this passage:
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
...
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
- Matthew 6:25-33
I feel drawn to the story in Genesis 22 as well, because it is a story about God's provision, and the story involves a man facing the threat of losing his son and not knowing why his son's life is being taken. I trust that as God is providing housing, food, transportation, and health care for us now, that he will provide Roscoe safe passage through the surgery and recovery process. Please pray with us that it will be so.
